We are Pawns in an Infinite Game

A poem of watching defiance

We are pawns in an Infinite Game Played in dimensions unknown

Sometimes a divine spark of laughter flows into our vision
and we are blinded by the brilliance.
Other times the shroud of darkness falls silently over us
leaving us at the mercy of despair.

Would that we played the game as we are played.

For then we could take up the mantle of power
So effortlessly worn by the infinite.

Till then we travel in our minds towards something
That promises reward unknown in our time,
And flounder in rapids of our own making
Fighting a current that we cannot climb.

All the while holding the wand of Merlin to wave at will.

I watch so many turn their focus
Unto the next bright shiny light,
And as that watcher I silently witness
Their wishes and dreams get lost in the night.

For we who are given the gift of divining
Soon know that with power comes anguish and pain.
As we watch…
