The Power of Expectations Expectations are like the invisible rules we set for ourselves about how life should go. These “rules” shape how we see the world and react to it. When we have high expectations, we push ourselves to achieve more. This can be a good thing, pushing us to do our best. But, if we expect too much all the time, we might end up feeling disappointed a lot.

On the flip side, if we always expect the bare minimum, we might not reach our full potential. Our expectations come from various sources. Friends, family, movies, and social media all influence what we think should happen in our lives.

I was fortunate in my initial grade school education to be able to grasp the teachings easily. This led to my expectations of easy learning throughout the rest of my school years. And then came adulthood and a reality check.
