Quantum Internet
I’m still trying to wrap my head around Quantum Mechanics, and now I’m coming across stories exposing the next page, called the Quantum Internet. As an aside — this is basic stuff — meant for those of us who have just begun to get interested.
Imagine the future of the internet as a superhero upgrade! We’re talking about communication that’s super-speedy, sharing memories and experiences at the blink of an eye, and ensuring our chats and pictures are locked up tighter than a diary with a secret key.
First, we need to take a step back to understand how all this is possible. Behind all these cool changes are tiny superheroes called “qubits.” They’re like the tiny bits inside our current computers but with a touch of magic. They can exist in two places at once, thanks to their special ability, a phenomenon from the realm of Quantum Mechanics.
Now, it might be tempting to think that “Quantum Mechanics” sounds like a fancy term from a science-fiction movie. However, consider it as the rulebook for everything tiny and mysterious. Unlike the predictable world we see (like knowing the sun will rise every day), the teeny tiny world can be a tad unpredictable. Sometimes, particles like to exist in more than one place simultaneously! This quirky behavior powers the magic behind the future internet.
