Procrastination, Stop Waiting, Start Doing
We’ve all had those days — a job or a task staring at us, waiting to be finished, but we keep saying, “I’ll do it later.” Putting things off, or procrastination, is something a lot of us struggle with. But the good news is, with the right mindset and a few tricks up our sleeve, we can push through it. Let’s look at some practical ways to help you stop delaying and start doing.
What’s Behind the Habit of Putting Things Off?
Most times, we put things off because, deep down, we’re a bit scared. Maybe we’re worried we won’t do a good job, or perhaps the task just feels too big to handle. It could even be that we’re nervous about what will happen once the job is done. The first step to fixing a problem is understanding it, and realizing why we’re delaying is a big part of the battle.
Over the years I’ve had continuous battle with myself re getting thing done. My todo list becomes overwhelming no matter how much time I put on it. Sometimes I feel like a yo-yo with my attitudes towards what I “should” do and what I “want” to do. And then it’s so easy to say “blank” it and do nothing. And guess what — Guilt is the next step — and I start all over again.
