I Wish the Sun would Shine.

It does. As we wish it.

The day begins. Bright sleepless eyes joyfully rush to the window.
And see the clouds have taken over the day.
A day of sunshine in a young boys mind
Who dreamt of all the glorious things his day would allow.

And then, sitting restlessly by the window, wishing for the sun to shine.
Why today he ponders. He questions the god he has been taught.
Could the sun still come and save him? It’s not fair he thinks.
All my friends have things they can do with their families. What does he do?

Think of each of our moments of despair. We who have had time to learn.
We have been blessed with more time to gain experience. Has it helped?
We still look at the day, think of everything that could have been,
And say with the child — I wish the sun would shine!

Then in a moment of insight we remember the countless days that started so.
How they each began with the regret of a gloomy outlook. And we carried on
Strangely, as we focused on what had to be done, brightness began to return
Not the physical — the gloom still stayed. But the focus took attention away

To the realization that we have created what we experience. Could it be?
That if we think about the rain and the unfairness of it all, it comes to be.
But if instead we play the cards we’re given. If we mold each shiny moment
Given in this gift called life. We can win each game we play in — with a smile
