How to Deal with Questions with No Answer
A restful afternoon a bit ago I was sitting contentedly on my padded rocking chair watching the world go by. In the distance I saw a figure coming closer and closer, He walked slowly towards me and stopped at my driveway when I gestured him in. It took only a few moments to recognize this man had to be an incarnation of a wise guru from another age. I called him “My Teacher” soon after.
My teacher stayed with me that evening. We talked far into the night. My questions unceasing and my new mentor patiently explaining. I mostly listened. As my time with him came to an end I asked for a final word.
“Thank you, my friend and teacher. You have spent the past evening answering my questions and I have learned much. I am asking you if you would leave me with something as you go?”
“I HAVE LEFT YOURSELF TO YOU”, he replied.
“What do you mean by that?” I responded in slight frustration. “Why can you not be clear and concise so I can simply go by your instruction. It would be so much easier if every day you just leave me a list of my to-dos for the day. Does that not make sense? After all, then I would have so much more time doing what you think is important. Certainly, that makes sense does it not?”
