For the Journey itself is the Goal
A kite soars in the sky when placed into a natural bond with the wind. Imagine trying to fly a kite without this relationship. It would be like breathing with the nose and mouth closed. Not possible!
Man, who himself rarely searches for a like bond, complains about his failure to ascend. He can always soar, but only with a union between himself and the higher processes of his own nature. On his own he cannot.
Flying a kite allows us to make physical that which is nonphysical. We dream in our daily lives that we can soar about the complexities of that day — to rise above our concerns and trivialities yet we would rather not make that flight permanent. We want to know we have the cord attaching ourselves to our comfort zone. So we can rewind back to the life we have become used to.
As you stand on the ground unwinding that cord to your identity — you imagine it is your soul up there — yearning and dancing with its own wind power of beauty, love, and expectations of the unknown. You want to break free. You know that is really where you want to go, but having that knowledge makes you uneasy about leaving what is comfort — the familiarity of your life to this point.
When the man at the control of the kite becomes tired and uncomfortable the kite tears from the controller’s hand and then rides the wind higher and higher till it is out of sight. What does our soul…
