Nature has a way of showing us what works. She demonstrates that almost everything occurs in cycles. The earth rotates on a daily cycle. The moon revolves around the earth on a monthly cycle. The earth revolves around the sun on a yearly cycle. Four seasons take us from cold to warm to cold again. Tides flow daily towards and away from the shore. The day closes with sunset and opens with a sunrise. Winter ends and the annual cycle of spring, summer, and fall continues. On and on. Every beginning has an ending, and every ending has a new beginning. An ending can be a time of eager expectation of a brand new and wonderful experience.

In our own beginning lies the end of another journey. Our lives have seasons and cycles. Every season of our life has a beginning and an ending that leads to another new beginning. Childhood ends and adolescence begins. Adolescence ends and adulthood begins. Young adulthood ends and middle age begins, Middle age ends, and old age begins.

We humans generally like beginnings — we even celebrate the new. Similarly, on the other side, we often resist endings and attempt to delay them. Why do we do this? Possibly we do not realize that we are one with nature where each ending is the seed of a new beginning. Granted endings can be…
