In today’s fast-moving world, it’s common for us to want to change the people around us. We see things we don’t like in others and wish they would act differently. But what if we tried to work on ourselves instead?
Let me share a story from the early ’90s: I had a close friend who gave me financial advice. I trusted him completely and didn’t question his expertise. Unfortunately, this led to me losing a lot of money because I didn’t do my own research. The problem wasn’t him; it was my high expectations of him. When I adjusted my thinking, our strained relationship got better. This change in mindset showed me that by focusing on ourselves, managing our expectations, and being more understanding, we can find more happiness and better relationships.
The Importance of Personal Growth
Personal growth is about getting better as a person. It’s a journey that lasts your whole life. It’s about learning new things, thinking about yourself, and getting better. When we try to change others, we forget about our own growth. We can do better by focusing on ourselves.
