A Moment of Misunderstanding equals a Lifetime of Regret
Have you ever been misunderstood?
What prompted me to write
I began this after something that I wrote was understood by the reader, based on the written word. She could not see my face, not hear the inflection of my voice, and could not feel the aura of my reasoning and assumed I meant “xyz”. I did not. After reflecting I came slowly to a deeper understanding.
We live many lives under the concern that what we say is misunderstood. Are we even aware of this? And truth is that lives change daily from a simple misinterpretation of the written or spoken word.
Those of us roughly under the age of 30 have had their lives revolve around the electronic messages that are sent by the millions on a day to day basis. Those of us older are rapidly being pulled into the powerful current of the rushing river of electronic life.
How often have you read something someone close to you has said. Then reacted in a self justified, sharp response to find a totally different meaning was meant. Imagine it was someone you barely know?
